“The most important thing I learned from this internship (and hope future interns will too) is rethinking how I know. Throughout this internship, the people and projects I did challenged my assumptions and beliefs coming in, and it has helped me become better at questioning and understanding things.”
Mohammad Abu Shariha
Penn State Computer Science Major
Summer 2026
“My internship with OIM gave me the opportunity to combine my background in computer science and artificial intelligence with a growing interest in institutional investing. I worked on meaningful projects involving public equity research, fund analysis, and the potential use of AI within the investment process. The team encouraged me to ask questions, explore different asset classes, and contribute ideas of my own. The experience significantly expanded my understanding of global markets and showed me how technology can support investment decision-making.”

"My internship at Penn State’s Office of Investment Management challenged me to think beyond the technical side of investing. From conducting independent research projects and exploring how AI can enhance investment management, to learning from experienced professionals, I gained a deeper understanding of the importance of curiosity, continuous learning, and analytical decision making. I am beyond grateful for the mentorship and opportunities that have helped shape both my professional growth and my future career."

“My internship with OIM gave me an inside look at institutional investing and was intellectually rewarding. The learning-focused environment makes it the perfect place for curious students to expand their financial knowledge. I got to work with venture capital and analyze real-world data, gaining exposure to private markets I couldn't have gotten in a classroom. The summer was filled with valuable lessons I'll carry with me throughout my career.”
